Pursuant to Article 8 of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, there are the following types of visas:

2. Visa conditions
Pursuant to Article 14 of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, the conditions for visa issuance are:
– Have a valid passport or international travel document.
– Having an agency, organization or individual in Vietnam invite or guarantee, except for the case of granting an electronic visa at the request of a foreigner/agency, organization or issuing a visa at a competent authority of Vietnam in
– Not falling into the cases that have not been allowed to enter the country specified in Article 21 of this Law. Specifically:
- Failing to meet the entry conditions specified in Clause 1, Article 20 of this Law.
- Children under 14 years old who are not accompanied by their father, mother, guardian or authorized person.
- Forging papers, making false declarations in order to be granted valid papers on entry, exit and residence.
- Persons suffering from mental illnesses or infectious diseases that pose a danger to public health.
- Being expelled from Vietnam for less than 03 years from the effective date of the decision on expulsion.
- Being forced to leave Vietnam within 06 months from the effective date of the decision on forced exit.
- For reasons of disease prevention and control.
- Due to natural disaster.
- For reasons of national defense, security, social order and safety.
In addition to the above conditions, the following cases when applying for a visa must also have documents proving the purpose of entry: :
- Foreigners.must have papers proving their investment in Vietnam in accordance with the Law on Investment;
- Foreigners who.practice law in Vietnam must have a license to practice law in accordance with the Law on Lawyers;
- Foreigners.must have a work permit in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Code;
- Foreigners who.come to study must have a written receipt from the Vietnamese school or educational institution;

Depending on the visa category, the law has its own specific regulations for each type of document when applying for a visa.
Foreigners can have two ways to apply for a visa to Vietnam as follows:
Method 1:
Apply for a visa yourself at Vietnam’s Consular offices in abroad such as Embassies or Consulates (documents will depend on each entry category and the requesting agency).
Or
Method 2:
Through Organizations or Individuals (will guarantee) in Vietnam to apply for a visa.
